Privacy, Protection of Information, and Online Coursework
In British Columbia, students have their Personal Identifiable Information protected under law by the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA). It is important to think of student privacy not only as a legal requirement for teachers, but also as a human right for our students.
As an educator, it is important that you have a basic understanding of how to appropriately instruct students in the use of online and cloud-based computing technology, and how to comply with FIPPA in the school setting. |
