Literature Review & Current Research - Introduction
How can teachers disrupt traditional educational paradigms and increase student engagement by incorporating a gamification construct to enhance existing online learning experiences?
A review of the current research reveals that the existing educational paradigm and the engagement strategies that have been used traditionally are no longer appropriate for today’s learners. Furthermore, the literature exposes strong thematic and practical connections between student engagement and the use of gamification techniques to design learning opportunities for online students. As a result, it is expected that the use of gamification strategies will provide a powerful option for online teachers hoping to improve student engagement.
